Shetlands are smaller and can manage with less. Many are well kept on a
forage (grass and hay) based system with very few grains or concentrates.
Guidelines for feeding Shetlands will be covered in other pages in the Feed
Section. Also, remember that stocking rates for pastures vary greatly,
depending on where in North America you may be. Consulting with a local
agricultural representative is a good plan. Many colleges and universities
have sheep programs, in addition to the ones listed here. They may be able
to provide specific information on feeding sheep in your area.
